Shanghai delivered the perfect opening act for the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season, and right in the middle of the story was Rodrigo Dias Almeida and the striking WeTrade-backed #8 Phantom Global Racing Porsche at the front. 

Against one of the most competitive grids in Carrera Cup Asia history, Almeida produced a standout performance. Launching strongly from the front of the field, the Mozambican driver controlled the race with impressive pace and composure, ultimately leading the field to the chequered flag in Shanghai.

Competing on the support bill of the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix, the championship began its 23rd season with a record-breaking 30-car grid. Thirty drivers charged into battle with the brand-new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992.2).

The Shanghai double-header marked the first competitive outing for the 992.2, a machine delivering increased power and enhanced braking performance, setting the stage for a new era in the one-make championship.
